Frequently asked questions
[Q] How do I get my own domain name?
[A] We take care of this for you….however, if you want the ‘technical’ details, see below:
Your domain name will have to be obtained from a domain registrar such as Namecheap.com. You can do this yourself or we are happy to do this for you. (This service is included in our pricing) There are many extensions for a domain name such as .co.uk and .com, in general we suggest a .co.uk for a UK based registrant and .com for international. A .co.uk domain is registered for two years and remains your property, the registrar will notify you personally when a renewal is due. You will need to check that your chosen name eg: johnandtracy.co.uk is available, we are happy to assist you with choosing and registering a domain name as part of our service.
[Q] What is hosting?
[A] Again, we deal with everything for you, and again… if you want the ‘techie’ bit…see below:
For a website to appear on the internet it has to be hosted on a web server. We provide 6 months fully managed hosting on our own servers for you when you order your Wedding Album website. If you wish to keep your website after this period we can offer you continued service for a small monthly fee, alternatively if you wish to move your website to another web host we will provide you with a full backup of your site that can be installed on your new web hosts server.
(Please note: free hosting (web space) provided by your internet service provider is very unlikely to provide the server requirements needed for your website. Technical requirements such as PHP scripting and MySql database are not available on free ISP web space)
[Q] How do I get my Email address?
[A] Simple, we do this for you as well…..here’s the ‘techie’ bit:
Once your domain is registered and we have set up your hosting you will be able to choose an email address of your choice eg: ‘anything@johnandtracy.co.uk’ The preceding ‘anything’ can be just that, anything. So you could have ‘thecouple@yourdomain.co.uk’ as an example.
We will provide you with an automatic install file for Outlook Express to set up your email on your computer. if You use a different email client we can provide manual settings for you to set up your email account or alternatively we can provide you with web mail. These services are all included in your hosting package.
[Q] How many photo’s can I have in my Gallery?
[A] The Galleries we provide hold up to 20 images in total eg. 2 Galleries of 10 images. (additional galleries / images can be arranged if required.)
In addition to your main Gallery we provide space for 1 image in the header, 1 large image on the front page and up to 6 smaller images for use in other sections.
[Q] How does the Guest book work?
[A] Just Like a Physical Guestbook! Here’s a more detailed outline:
You provide us with the Introduction text you would like on your guest book page, your visitors will be able to leave their comments and well wishes on that page.
You will have the option to let anyone sign your guest book or you can ask us to set it up so that your visitors have to register (recommended) before they can leave a comment. You will be notified by email of any comments and you will also have the option of moderating these comments before they become public. This is a nice way of monitoring your visitors comments and additionally you will have the option to reply to them by posting your reply in your guest book.
[Q] How do I add additional content?
[A] Simple! You just type your content and publish it. Remember, we will show you exactly how to do this.
We will create all of your pages, galleries etc. from the information we request from you when you place your order, however you can add new content yourself. We will create a secure login (password Protected) for you to enable you to access the control panel for your site, here you will be able to add recent news and updates etc. we will provide you with instructions on how to do this. When you become familiar with the controls you will be able to add text messages, news items and even add images and create new pages. If you find this a bit daunting then we are more than happy to arrange updating your site for you.
[Q] What theme can I have?
[A] You can choose from any of the themes listed in the ‘Album Themes’ section on our site.
These are our default themes, if you want a Bespoke theme we are happy to discuss this with you, however considerable costs can be involved with this (depending on your requirements) as programmers and designers time is expensive.
[Q] Do you provide Wedding Photography services?
[A] Yes, ‘Your Wedding Album Online’ is an integral part of Robert Waite Photography.
Robert is a Professional UK Based Wedding Photographer and would be more than happy to discuss your requirements. Robert will also assist you in organising the content required for your Wedding Album website.
[Q] How do I link My Wedding Album website with FaceBook etc.?
[A] Very Easily….See Below:
Your Wedding Album website will have a URL, eg: ‘johnandtracy.co.uk’ You can link to this url from your Facebook® account, the same applies to Myspace® and other Social Network Sites. This is a great way to show your Wedding Album to all of your Social Network contacts.
Your Social Network site will provide information on how to add your url to your account there.
[Q] Can I add a YouTube video to my Wedding Album?
[A] Yes….You can embed a YouTube Video into your site.
Our support staff will assist you with this if required.
[Q] What happens if I make a mistake when using the control panel?
[A] First…Don’t panic! Our support team will repair your site….here’s the ‘techie’ bit:
If you have made a mistake and caused your site to malfunction follow these simple steps:
Go to our main page and use the ‘Contact US’ form to notify support of the problem. We will hold a backup of your site that will be created on the initial completion as well as regular ongoing backups. This means that we can restore your Wedding Album to the state it was in at first completion or to the last backup made.
It is worth mentioning however that despite the fact that we make regular backups on an ongoing basis we cannot guarantee that any changes you have made will be in the latest backup.
[Q] Can people copy the images in the Galleries?
[A] No. The galleries are encrypted to prevent unauthorised copying of images and infringement of copyright.
All possible protection has been applied to the galleries to prevent illegal copying and theft of images, however, it is impossible to prevent someone with the sufficient technical knowledge from copying anything on web pages. You can be assured that the general visitor to your site will not be able to copy images in the galleries with the normal ‘right click - save image’ actions.
[Q] Can I change the music in the gallery slideshow?
[A] Yes, We provide the music you hear in the sample templates as a default, however we have hundreds of music tracks that you can browse through and choose from.
[Q] Can the music be turned off?
[A] Yes, At the foot of the slideshow there is a control panel that will appear if you hover the mouse over the currently displayed image, this will allow you to enlarge the slideshow to full screen, turn the music on or off and move forward or backwards through the images.
